I'm not a VHF freak but from many club events I can remember the TACLog written by Bo Hansen, OZ1FDJ (now OZ2M). This program is quite smart and a bit different from the mainstream logging programs. The most important difference is the FREE INPUT FORMAT. Where most other programs "dictate" the order and format of the input data during contesting, TACLog gives you freedom of operation, both on the air and on your computer.
TACLog is a DOS program which can be run also in Windows, however these programs are now a bit obsolete and limited. The most valuable features of the TACLog has now Tučňák which runs on Linux and most Uni*es. Oh, Tučňák (to be pronounced as "toochnyack") is the Czech word for Penguin.
Tučňák provides excellent "fringe benefits" from logging, such as ultra-fast dupe-checking, fast search & find functions, QSL function plus the ability to configure the program for use in practically every type of VHF/UHF/SHF contest. It also handles print-outs, summary sheets and logs, all in accordance with Region 1 rules. TACLog is also capable of generating EDI files, ADIF and HTML exported files.
